Rod Repair

Have you ever broken a rod? Through the years I have had some bad luck and some dumb luck. About a month ago I was fishing with my favorite 3 weight fly rod and on a back cast caught a blade of grass….I gave the rod one little pop to free itself (like I have done a million times before) and there before me lay my rod….in 2 pieces! I couldn’t believe it and frankly it hit me pretty hard.

Now this isn’t a million dollar rod…but it is a rod that simply fits my hand….and if I were honest I could say that I have easily landed over 5,000 fish through the years. So….I put in a call to a good friend of mine; Wayne Wells, who is a rod builder. I dropped the rod off with him and a week later he had repaired the rod. I couldn’t even tell where the rod had been broken and 2 weeks later I landed back to back 18 and 17 inch smallies from a local creek. The rod performed like nothing had ever happened and I was relieved to know that my old friend would once again be in my hand for many years to come. I am also thankful that craftsmen like Wayne are still around and can help us fishermen!

So….if you need a rod repair or would like a new spin or bait casting rod…contact Wayne at Wayne’s Rod and Reel…his information is listed below:

Hand Crafted Fly Fishing Signs

My wife, Vickie, is now making signs … of all kinds. I asked her to make a few fly fishing signs; she makes each one of these by hand, from scratch. They are very nice and would make a nice addition to your den, office, hearth or fly-tying area. You can look at these in […]
