What’s New in 2022

Greetings to you all from here in southern Indiana. Here’s hoping you had a great Holiday Season and, like me, are looking forward to an incredible 2022! I have received several emails in the past few weeks asking/wondering if I am still doing videos and if everything is alright … the answer is simple, yes!

I, or better yet, we (my wife Vickie and I) are in a major transition period in our lives as we are moving from here in Indiana to NW Wisconsin this spring. That is a 700 mile move and frankly no easy feat. In fact, since November 1st I have done 4500 miles driving ‘stuff’ … for lack of a better term, from Indiana to Wisconsin! If you have ever tried to make a move then you know how time consuming it actually is; and after 25 years in our current home and property … we collected a ‘volume’ of ‘material’ that has since been pared down and made ready for the permanent move this spring.

It is both a very exciting time for us and a very tedious one at the same time as selling our home and property where we raised kids is and will continue to be somewhat emotional at times. We can’t wait to be in Wisconsin and particularly the big woods of the northwest part of the state. The outdoor life there is, we believe, second to none with so many hunting, hiking, exploring and fishing opportunities! However, getting there is and continues to be time consuming … so, yes, look for me to be back at the videos and blog pieces as I fish and explore the Great Lakes and upper midwest area.

For those of you who have emailed and were interested/concerned … thank you! It is good to know that I was at least a little bit missed and there is yet, more interest in future videos and projects. Stay patient and know that I am well and will at some point be back at it…we plan on being back up north on our Wisconsin property by early April and are starting the build on our new log home in early May.

I fervently hope that 2022 will be the year that we all can take a breath and finally rid ourselves of Covid and much of the mindless craziness that we all have had to endure over the past couple of years. As always, you can reach out to me via email at flyfishingwithjeff@gmail.com or by utilizing the comment section at the bottom of this or any post.

As many of you know … my favorite bible scripture has always been Galatians 6:9; let us not get tired of doing what is right for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessings, if we don’t get tired and give up! Pretty simple verse, but one that has helped me move forward in life many, many times…and still true today. Continue to do the right things. Get out and enjoy all that nature has to offer…and most of all, be patient for better times are just ahead and will be our ‘harvest of blessings’.

My Upland Hunting Season – Late October to Mid-December

For the past 35 years I have wanted to be out west, by myself, for the opener of pheasant season. This year I was able to make it happen … and it was awesome! I left on October 27th and dead-headed for Osmond, Nebraska to see Jacquie Lorenz … the wife of my best friend, […]

Apps for the Fly Fisherman

If you haven’t noticed, we live in a high tech world. Now, I am not going to start to say that I am a techy person; short of 35 years teaching high school and all that goes with that … if given a choice, I am usually low-tech. However, I’m not stupid and will pick […]

The Passing of a Legend

I believe that we are shaped by those strong individuals who God has place around us; whether it be as a child or even as an adult. I have been a very lucky man…I was the son of an incredible gentleman, my father, Ivan Carmichael, who passed away this month (March) two years ago. I […]
