Hey, folks …. Jeff here and once again I was out and about here in NW Wisconsin on the Upper Namekagon River in search of brookies and browns. The weather was near perfect, mid 50’s with mostly sunny skies and the tannic water was almost gin clear. Click here to read about Part 1 of this latest trout adventure.
My good friend Duane was once again along on the trip and it is always fun to have a new fly-guy along to watch them figure things out …. and sometimes be just a bit frustrated for as you know, fly fishing isn’t always easy!
We did about 3 river miles starting in Cable and working our way down towards highway 63 for our takeout. I managed to land a few nice brook trout and lost one large brown in heavy water … but as they say, better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.
Here is hoping your spring fly fishing is off to a great start; you can leave any comments below and reach me by email at flyfishingwithjeff@gmail.com and I will do my best to get back to you with the best answer possible and in a timely manner.

Smallmouth and Musky – On the Fly – Upper St Croix River
What a great day out on the St Croix River as my friend Duane and I fly fished about 3-4 miles of the upper portion of the river; and just in case you are curious, there are lots of definitions of ‘upper’ but for me it is above the Riverside Landing where Wisconsin 35 crosses […]
Poppers for Trophy Smallmouth Bass in May and On the Fly
Once again my good friend Duane and I set out on an adventure on the St Croix River in pursuit of smallmouth bass. On this day mother nature had turned a cold shoulder with 44 degree temps and winds blowing straight from Canada at 20-25 mph … making for some pretty nippy fly fishing. Before […]
