Stringer Readiness – Float Tube Fishing Tip

If you are using your float tube, often you will find times when you need a stringer and one simple remedy is to buy a low priced, metal stringer and attach it to your “D” ring on the right, rear side of the float tube. Next, fold the stringer up and place it in the zippered pocket once again on the right side of the float tube and closest to the “D” ring. I like to do this as it takes little or no time to reach over, un-zip the zipper and take the stringer out for us.

Now….I don’t want you to immediately jump on me as a person who keeps all of his fish; that is not the case…but often I catch a fish of some size that I want to take a photo of and the easy way to ensure the fish is healthy and you get your picture is to secure the beast on a stringer.

How? Here is the key, DON’T put the metal through the fished gills or you will indeed kill it. Put the sharp portion of the stringer up through the bottom of the fish’s jaw, just behind the jaw and in the soft portion that can easily be penetrated. In doing it this way you can take your photo and then easily release the grand fish back into its home waters. Taking photos is the best way to have those memories last for many years!
