The following video was shot on April 17th, 2011 by my good friend Frank just minutes after landing my big bass (23 ½ inches). The fish was caught on a Civil War Streamer that is one of my new ‘hot flies’ for this spring. We estimated the weight of the bass to be 8 pounds as she was not full of eggs yet. I caught the fish on a 5 weight rod with a full sinking, type 3 line and on 4x tippet. It was one of the most exciting fishing minutes of my 35 year fly rod career. I hope to once again catch this big bass as she was released, unharmed, back into the waters of a rural farm pond.
