Product Reviews; St Croix Imperial Fly Rod and NRS Workboot Wetshoes

Greetings from NW Wisconsin! In today’s video I review a new fly rod, the St Croix Imperial in a 9′, 7 wt model. I also review the NRS Workboot Wetshoes that I use while on the rivers here locally.

St Croix Imperial Fly Rod

First, the St Croix Imperial Fly Rod was exceptional and frankly, surprising. It handled my sink tip 1 fly line very well and had the speed and strength to allow me to punch the fly line and most importantly, the fly, into tight, shady spots where the smallmouth bass were holding. For around $300 dollars, this is also a bargain as most other rods of this caliber are hundreds more. In fact, if ever in Park Falls, Wisconsin, stop by their merchandise store, connected to the factory, and you might be able to buy a B rod for much less.

NRS Workboot Wetshoes

The NRS Workboot Wetshoes are a staple with me and I have been using these for three years now …. but just purchased a new pair and found that they are even better! They now have a side zipper that allows for easier take-off once you are pooped and off the water. The older model was at times a real struggle to get off once wet and after a day and a few miles on the river….that was no fun.

At under $80 you will be amazed at how well these boots work while fly fishing or just paddling. They are lightweight and shed both water and sand very well!
