Short and sweet; this video shows me tying a version of my trout candy that I have just started using and have had great results from it. The recipe is as follows:
Hook – Cabela’s Plated Jighead in size 1/64 (brass)
Tail – Silver Bucktail; a piece long enough to extend an inch and a half from the eye.
Body – Wapsi’s Palmer Chenille in small pearl gray
The fly is sold in larger sizes (1/32, 1/16) and could be a great go-to fly for panfish and bass alike. I am tying the fly in olive, black, silver and my favorite, crème. If you watch the video from Roaring River you can see how effective the fly actually is. In the Roaring River video (posted a few days ago) I am fishing the fly using my 3 weight rod, sink tip 1 fly line and 3X tippet. This set up works very well with the 1/64 size fly.
Best of luck with the fly; let me know if you have success with it. If you have questions you can contact me in the comment section at the bottom of this page or by emailing me at flyfishingwithjeff@gmail.com.
