Sometimes your plans at the beginning of a day just aren’t what you end up with a few hours later! Duane and I set off on a fly fishing adventure in the tannic waters of NW Wisconsin … specifically looking for musky on the fly … not exactly the easiest thing to do.
On the day I did manage to land one small musky along with three nice pike, one over 30 inches and a smallmouth bass of just over 20 inches. The weather was perfect and except for a swarm of biting flies it was a perfect day to be out on the water.
If you have ever casted a 10 or 12 weight rod for 7-8 hours you know how tired and sore your shoulder and hands can be after a long day with a heavy rod and big flies. I love the challenge involved in trying to land the apex predator here in our local waters and while it wasn’t terribly successful … the day and the adventure was nothing short of incredible.
I hope you enjoy the video and are able to get a tip or two from the day. Remember to leave any comments below or you can reach me at flyfishingwithjeff@gmail.com and I will do my best to get back to you with the best answer I can provide.
