Hey folks, Jeff here with a short video introducing my new GWP (German Wirehaired Pointer) puppy, Aldo! He is quite the puppy and we are loving him and will be looking forward to many years of companionship and adventures in the bird field. If you are familiar with conservation then you may already know the name, he is named after my favorite conservationist, Aldo Leopold.
If you haven’t yet read “A Sand County Almanac” …. then please grab yourself a copy and you will be thankful you did as the book is full of beautiful stories related to wildlife and to nature itself. Leopold had a grasp of conservation well before most others were even giving it any thought.
I wanted to share this video and then give you some updates on Aldo and his progress from time to time. If you aren’t familiar with a German Wirehair … then you might want to take a quick look, they are a very impressive dog breed and if you are a bird hunter, well …. I think they are simply top of the line.
We got Aldo from a local breeder, Don Erlandson and his wife, Kelly. They do an absolutely fantastic job in breeding, raising and preparing puppies to come home. In fact, Aldo is approximately my 40th bird dog puppy and without question he is the most well adjusted I have had. Don does some very unique training with his pups and once they are ready to come home, they are well advanced of most other pups.
Just as a note, if you like what you see, Don has two of the puppies still available and you can get his phone number here in Wisconsin from the picture attached to this article …. believe me, this is a first class organization. So, I will update you on the pup’s progress and if you should have any bird dog questions, please leave those in the comment section below.
