Hey folks …. Jeff here with yet another simple, but very fun video. On this Sunday night I grabbed a 3 wt, float tube and a few terrestrials and headed to a small lake just a couple of minutes from home.
If you haven’t yet tried a float tube, there is no time like right now. There are literally hundreds of small lakes that are calling your name. With a float tube you will be able to access lakes/ponds that others can’t get their boat or even canoes/kayaks to or into!
The ease with which you can fish is amazing as a float tube will fit in the back of any car and thus there is no need for a big vehicle … and with the price of gas, that is a great bonus! For sure, the serenity of the lake and the ease with which you can get and maneuver a float tube will amaze you.
For a fly fisherman, the float tube allows you to keep your hands free to cast in any direction. Sure, there is a bit of a learning curve to float tubing …. but after a few spots you will get the hang of the kick fins and your legs will take over … leaving you time to fly fishing with independence!

Low Water Fly Fishing Tactics for Smallmouth
In today’s video adventure I am once again back on the upper St Croix River with my good buddy, Duane. We do 3-4 miles of clear and low river water in search of big smallmouth and luckily along the way … we find a few! On this day it was a trifecta of issues; low […]
A Lazy Day for Smallmouth and Pike On The Fly
Another day on the upper St Croix River and another great adventure for my good friend Duane and myself. The air was cool and there was some rain in and around us … barometer was falling and the fish were biting, especially a few big pike and smallmouth bass. What a complete treasure to have […]
Up Close and Personal: One Of My Best Smallmouth Days Ever!
Another awesome day on the St Croix River … lots of smallmouth bass and several over 16 inches with the largest coming in a tad over 20 inches. Every once in a while all the stars align as they did on this day and the fish are up and eager to eat one of my […]
The Highs and Lows of Fly Fishing
If you have watched any of my videos then you probably have seen the bible verse at the end slide of each video, Gal 6:9. There are a few versions but the one I stuck on as a kid is as follows: Let us not get tired in doing what is right, for after a […]
Hey Jeff, Stevn here I have been Flying off and on in Southern California for a while. Have a float tube but don’t get out much. When I do I can’t waist time so I manage it as well as I can.
So, wet shoes on the float tube and wading with them. I have seen the video series that you did from bottom up and you don’t use felt or rubber sole boots on the tube with your fins on.
That’s my question, what type or brand of boot do you use with your fins on that you can still use to wade with on the shore line?
Also when fishing for small mouth and Big Mouth Bass, what is your leader and Tippet Setup??
I usually don’t go longer than the pole length I’m using but what’s your take on it? ??
I truly enjoy the videos and your advice, Thank You for the time!
