What follows is a video….a simple one of me getting in my float tube. For those new to the tube or the sport there is some confusion on how to best enter the water and this video will give you my style.
As you watch you will note I put my fins on after entering the water. I know others put them on prior to….however this makes walking or stepping down off of a bank very difficult and frankly it is too easy to slip the fins on after sitting in your tube. So I wish you the very best in your fly fishing and float tube adventures.

I just experienced my first float tube adventure in over 20 years and although I enjoyed the day I was less than successful in maneuvering around. I noticed in the video you did a sharp turn near the end without any apparent effort…how in the world did you do that. 🙂
I’ve been turning using an awkward looking contortion of leaning on one side and kicking both flippers perpendicular to the water surface. Not elegant!
Sorry to just now be getting back to you…technology isn’t my strength. To make a tight turn, sit upright, keep your fins directly below you and this makes for. Tight turning radius…allowing you to turn sharply!
What fins do you recommend for a female beginner to float tubing?

The only kick fin that I would buy is made by Creek Company…#350 at their website: creekcompany.com. The regular price is $59.99 and they are worth every penny as they will give you the ability to make the sharp turns and also to power up and move along when you need to. While there….buy an extra set of straps for the kick fin as at some point you will break a strap and then be….up a creek without a kick fin.
