This video shows how to tie a Rubber Legged Spider. It is a simple pattern that is fantastic on bluegills, red ear, trout, bass and even crappie. Even though the pattern is simple it has lots of color and movement. I think you will do well fishing this fly in and under over hanging tree limbs or over bottom vegetation. I like using my 3 weight rod with type 2 full sinking line and casting close to shore then make a few slow strips and let the fly sink naturally…hold on and get ready the big bluegills love this fly!
Rubber Spider Ingredient List:
* #8 3X hook in red color
* White rubber leg material
* Black chenille (or color of choice)
* Black saddle hackle for collar
* Lead wire or beadhead (optional)
Instructions:
Start by tying in a short section of white rubber legs to front of hook. Next move to the middle of the hook and tie in another section of rubber legs…then travel to the back of the hook above the point of hook and tie in chenille; palmer chenille forward and around the middle legs to front of hook. At this point tie in the black saddle hackle and make a collar of 3 to 4 wraps, nothing too heavy. Tie off saddle hackle, apply head cement, separate rubber legs and catch fish!!!
