Hey folks, once again Dave Karczynski has a great piece that I found on MidCurrent. It’s titled “The Thoughtful Robot.” Give this a careful read and you will get some very sage advice from a Michigan river guide on how best to manage your time and efficiency while out on the river. Each tip is very accurate and will move your forward in becoming a better streamer guy. All too often there are those in the fly world that think streamer fishing is pretty simple…Not so fast my friend-streamer fishing has so many levels to it and to do it well you have to be able to think and move, quite literally, on your feet. In particular I liked the section on false casting….it simply isn’t needed and let’s be honest you aren’t going to catch any fish with your fly out of the water; it is indeed wasted time and motion. Lastly…take time to eat a bit here and there along the way…and do so before you have the big crash at some point and get tired just before the trophy of the day decides to eat your fly! Anyway…this is well worth reading, studying and practicing. So, go forth and catch lots of big fish…oh, and do so on a streamer. Click here to read Dave’s article …
